I Ching

Hexagrams from the I Ching or 'Book of Changes' are made with Labradorite lines on travertine. 


The one above is the 30th, 離 "lí" 'radiance.' 

The Judgement is: 

Perseverance furthers. 

It brings success.

Care of the cow [docility] brings good fortune.


The Image is:

That which is bright rises twice:

The image of FIRE.

Thus the great man, by perpetuating this brightness,

Illumines the four quarters of the world.


There are six lines in a hexagram, each is either yin or yang. Hence there are a total of 26 or 64 hexagrams, each with its own meaning.
